Winnie Gay Dalton Rector Staples, age 73, passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at Golden Living Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Galax, VA. She was born to Roscoe and Tokie Dalton in Carroll County, Virginia on Wednesday August 9, 1939. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands Eric Rector and John Staples.

She is survived by daughters and their husbands Teresa and Bernie Parnell of Hillsville, Virginia; Sharon and Ralph Vaughn of Austinville, Virginia; sons: Martin Rector and wife Angie of Lincolnton, North Carolina; Ricky Rector and special friend Kim Warlick of Newton, North Carolina; sisters: Inda Mae Quesinberry of Woodlawn, Virginia; Ocie Sutphin and Kay Gardner both of Dugspur, Virginia; Sue Easter of Cana, Virginia; Kathy and John Rothgeb of Concord, Virginia, and Annabelle Whitaker of Sparta, Tennessee; brothers Conrad Dalton and wife Susan, Ferlin Dalton and wife Brenda, Richard and wife Crystal, Olen Dalton, Don Dalton and J. B. Dalton all of Dugspur, Clarence Dalton and wife Modine of Hillsville, Virginia. Eight Grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, November 29, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the Zion Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Alleghany County, North Carolina with Rev. Bob Adams officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
