Wilma Kathleen Sarver age 88 of Galax, Virginia, passed away and went to glory on December 25, 2025 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina after a recent fall.
She was born in Fries, Virginia to Frank and Ida Pennington on March 18, 1937. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Marvin Sarver.
She was one of seven children and is survived by her brother, Ned Pennington of Mt. Airy, North Carolina; two sons Mike Vaught of Elk Creek, Virginia; and Jeff Vaught of Galax, Virginia; grandsons Quade, Damon and Brock Vaught; special nieces Carolyn, Linda, Debbie and Cathy along with several other family members, grandchildren, step-grandchildren and many cherished friends.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 10:30 am at Leonard Memorial Methodist Church with Pastor David Long officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 am until the service at the church. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully request memorials to Leonard Memorial Church, 207 Leonard Church Road, Galax Virginia 24333.
In recent years, "Sophie" her little corgi-mix, brought joy to her days. Together they would venture out to gospel music festivals, church, shopping and park walks. She was her constant loyal companion, with whom she shared daily snuggles in her easy chair resting her head upon her lap, as she read a novel in solitude.
