Wilma Ayers Rakes age 95 of Woodlawn, Virginia passed away Thursday, December 19, 2024 in the New River Valley Medical Center.

Mrs. Rakes was born on December 17, 1929 in Carroll County, Virginia to Alexander Andrew and Lelia Frances Bowers Ayers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Lealen Rakes; siblings Thelma Hill; Faye Teague; Helen Eller and Dallas Ayers.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law Darlene and Dennis Brewer of Woodlawn, Virginia; Rebecca and Patrick Turman of Radford, Virginia; brother and sister-in-law Larry and Sandra Ayers of Galax, Virginia; two grandsons Scott Lealen Bunn of Blacksburg,Virginia; Jordan Matthew Brewer of Woodlawn, Virginia; sisters-in-law Nola Ayers and Irene Rakes; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Monday at 2:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with the Rev. Dina Clower officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodlawn United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 1:00 PM until time for the funeral service at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
