Wilma Pearl Hanks Jones' Obituary
Wilma Pearl Hanks Jones age 93 of Galax, Virginia passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2014 in the Twin County Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Jones was born in Carroll County, Virginia on September 9, 1920 to Josh C. and Clennie Dickens Hanks. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Herman L. Jones; sisters Edna Shumate and Gelene Dalton and a brother Masil Hanks.
She is survived by a sister Evidene Milgrim of Galax, Virginia; brother and sister-in-law Nelson and Edna Hanks of Woodlawn, Virginia; several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, February 6, 2014 at 1:00 PM in the Oakland United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tim Smith and the Rev. Richard Gregory officiating Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 12:00 until time for the funeral service at the Oakland United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Oakland Backpack Buddies, Oakland Outreach Fund, 4987 Pipers Gap Road, Galax, Virginia 24333.
