William Eugene Sawyers age 78 of Woodlawn, Virginia passed away Sunday, January 21, 2024  in the Carilion New River Valley Medical Center.

Eugene was born on May 17, 1945 in Grayson County, Virginia to Garland and Velma Lucille Hawkins Sawyers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Arless Sawyers.

He proudly served his country in the US Army.

He is survived by his wife Brenda Sue Sawyers; sons and daughters-in-law; Rickey Sawyers; Rodney and Michelle Sawyers; Rockey Sawyers and Jeanette Lawson; grandchildren Blayze Sawyers (Elaina Sutphin); Hyleigh Sawyers (Casey Lawson); Jake Wall; Josh Wall; Matthew Wall; two special great-grandchildren Branson Kicker Sawyers and Cooper Nash Lawson: several nieces and nephews and his special dog Winchester.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at the Vaughan Guynn Funeral Home.  A memorial service will be held at a later date with inurnment in the Jones Cemetery.
