William Raymond Russell age 72 of Galax, Virginia passed away Sunday, November 11, 2018 at his home.

Mr. Russell was born in Carroll County, Virginia on August 27, 1946 to Romie and Emma Ayers Russell. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Tilly Marietta Melton Russell.

He is survived by his daughter and her significant other Misty Dawn McLaurin and Joseph Vecsey of Galax, Virginia; son and his significant other William Anthony Russell and Shelly Marshall; three grandchildren Anthony Gregg McLaurin, Jr.  "TJ"; Kalon Gregg McLaurin; Kaytlyn Paige Russell; sisters Imogene Richardson of Independence, Virginia; Mozelle Moore of Thomasville, North Carolina; brother Bill Russell of Thomasville, North Carolina; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at 2:00 PM in the Galax Church of God of Prophecy with Pastor Titus Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Quaker Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1:00 PM until time for the funeral service at the Galax Church of God of Prophecy.
