William Kermit Porter, better known as Kermit Porter  age 92 of Galax, Virginia passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2026  in the Waddell Nursing and Rehab Center.

Mr. Porter was born in Fries, Virginia on March 4, 1934 to Robert Alex and Ary Bonham Porter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Raymond Porter and Bruce Porter; his sisters Mildred Anderson and Ethel Funk.

He proudly served his country in the U S Army.

He is survived by a special niece and caregiver Kathy Kinzer of Independence, Virginia; other nieces and spouse Glenda Kennedy (Steve) of Galax, Virginia; Lois Wilson of Mt. Airy, North Carolina; three nephews and spouse Gene Funk (Sandy) of Fries, Virginia; Dewey Funk of Galax, Virginia;  Montie Horton of Fries, Virginia; special friends Pete and Cindy Wroten; Scott and Ada Wroten; Jay Wroten; Tommy and Sue Edwards; Ed and Phyllis Barker.

A graveside service will be held Monday at 1:00 PM in the Liberty Hill Cemetery at Fries, Virginia with Pastor Lee Thomas officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
