William Monroe Nelson known as Will Nelson age 44 of Galax, Virginia passed away Tuesday March 8, 2022 in the Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, North Carolina.

Will was born in Galax, Virginia on February 3, 1978 to Donny Ray and Nancy Irene Smith Nelson. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Billy Harold Nelson and Ernest W. Smith, Sr and a step-daughter Ashley Lanier.

In addition to his parents Donny and Nancy Nelson of Galax, Virginia, Will is survived by his son Caynan Ray William Ernest Nelson of Galax, Virginia; step-daughter Amber Lanier of Bristol, Tennessee; grandmothers Mary Helen Nelson and Celene Smith; three grandchildren; several aunts, uncles and cousins; many special friends including Rhonda Thompson and Buffy Bryant.

The funeral service will be held Saturday at 2:00 PM in the Snow Hill Baptist Church with Minister Michael Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Snow Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:00 PM until time for the service at the Snow Hill Baptist Church. Flowers will be appreciated or donations may be made to the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, North Carolina 27017.
