William "Bill" Clarence Fitzgerald, 78, passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at the New River Valley Medical Center, Christiansburg, Virginia. Mr. Fitzgerald was born May 21, 1938 in Fries, Virginia to the late James Edward and Hanora Elizabeth Sullivan Fitzgerald. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his former wife and mother of his children, Annette Bedsaul Fitzgerald; son James Michael Fitzgerald; brothers David, Hobert and Donald Fitzgerald, and sister Juanita Fitzgerald Leagans.

He is survived by his wife: Wilma Faye Harrison Fitzgerald of the home; daughters and spouses Tammy and Richard Berry, West Milton, Ohio; Tracy and Kent Shepard, Huber Heights Ohio; son and spouse Tom and Anita Fitzgerald of Lewis Center, Ohio; six grandchildren, three great grandchildren; step daughters and spouse Cathy and Dallas Sexton of Woodlawn; Karen Shaffer of Hillsville; step sons and spouses, Randy and Linda Hamm, Bedford, Virginia; Steve and Laura Hamm, Manteno, Illinois; Kenneth and Leslie Hamm, Galax,; Michael Hamm, Fries; 9 step grandchildren, two step great grandchildren; brother-in-law and wife: Danny and Phyllis Harrison, North Canton, Ohio; sister-in-law Gail Harrison of Galax; several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Fitzgerald was a life time member of the Hillsville VFW Post 1115 and proudly served his country in Vietnam. During his service, he reached the rank of Master Sargent in the United States Air Force.
The funeral service will be held Friday, January 6, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Rev. Ernie Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until service time at the funeral home.

Burial will be held Monday, January 9, 2017 at 12 Noon in the Dayton Memorial Park, Dayton, Ohio.
