William Austin (Bill) Stroupe age 85 of Galax, Virginia passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2014 in the North Carolina Baptist Hospital.

Mr. Stroupe was born in Wythe County, Virginia on March 12, 1929 to the late Alexander Baines and Mamie Jones Stroupe. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Iva Jean Todd Stroupe.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Sandra and Gil Gabriel of Mt. Airy, North Carolina; son Jesse Stroupe of Galax, Virginia; seven grandchildren Billy Joe Stroupe, Dawn Leigh Edwards, Robin Lynette Royal, William Ronald Stroupe, Kim Wilson, Karen Stroupe and Sonya Boyd; four great-grandchildren; sister Betty Marie Pratt of Rhode Island; brother Franklin D. Stroupe of Galax, Virginia; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 2:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with the Rev. Ted Bartlett officiating. Burial will follow in the Monta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:00 noon until time for the funeral service at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
