William Neil Anderson, Jr. age 62 of Galax, Virginia passed away on Monday December 3, 2018 in the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Neil was born in Galax, Virginia on December 2, 1956 to William Neil Anderson Sr. and Virginia Boyer Anderson. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister Joyce Gentry and niece Ellen Cash.

Neil was a member of the Galax Volunteer Fire Department from 1986-2018. He was a member and Secretary/Treasurer of the Pine Mountain Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was employed by the Grayson County Sheriff's office as a dispatcher.

He is survived by his wife Debbie Roberts Anderson of Galax, Virginia; son and daughter-in-law Stephen and Samantha Anderson of Galax, Virginia; granddaughter Morgan Machel Anderson; sister and brother-in-law Judy and Jim Lotts of Cornelius, North Carolina; niece and husband Jenny and Chris Culbertson of Greenville, South Carolina; niece and husband Chanel and Scott Martin of Concord, North Carolina;  mother-in-law Louise Roberts of Independence, Virginia; sister-in-law and husband Tammy and Jimmy Jones of Independence, Virginia; two nephews; four great-nieces and one great-nephew also survive.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 6, 2018 at 3:00 PM in the Pine Mountain Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Doug Stuart and David Hankley officiating. Burial will follow in the Hackler Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 1:00 PM until time for the funeral service at the Pine Mountain Pentecostal Holiness Church. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully request donations be made to the Galax Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 147, Galax, Virginia.
