Willard Russell McMickle age 74 of Galax, Virginia passed away Friday, January 17, 2014 in the Twin County Regional Hospital.

Mr. McMickle was born in Grayson County, Virginia on March 2, 1939 to James and Okie Burris McMickle. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers Forest, Ralph and Jimmy.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Sherry McMickle and Johnny Bare of Galax, Virginia; two grandchildren Holley Bare and Jonathon Bare; two great-grandchildren Isaiah Bare and Marley Bare; sisters Carlene Jones of Fries, Virginia; Iris Bartlett of High Point, North Carolina and Janell McMickle of Taylorsville, North Carolina; brothers David McMickle of Fries, Virginia and Virgil McMickle of Ivanhoe, Virginia; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, January 19, 2014 at 2:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with the Rev. Garry Adams and the Rev. Bob Adams officiating. Burial will follow in the Summerfield Cemetery with Military Rites by the Grayson VFW Post 7726. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from six until eight at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
