Willard Charles Goodson age 86 of Galax, Virginia passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2024, in the Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Goodson was born in Surry County, North Carolina on October 18, 1937, to Oscar and Marie Doby Goodson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Charls Wayne Goodson; sister Marvene Goodson; and two brothers Don Goodson and Dean Goodson.

He is survived by his wife Madeline Delp Goodson of Galax, Virginia; granddaughter and husband Hannah and Kendall Spangler of Galax, Virginia; sister and brother-in-law Betty and Larry Stone of Mt Airy, North Carolina; brothers and sisters-in-law Woody and Georgia Goodson of Low Gap, North Carolina; Jimmy and Deanna Goodson of Mt. Airy, North Carolina; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Sunday at 3:00 PM in the Oakland United Methodist Church with the Rev. Cindy Paxton and the Rev. Larry Stone officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 PM until time for the funeral service at the Oakland United Methodist Church.
