Wesley Conrad Fortner age 87 of Galax, Virginia passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2018 in the Grayson  Nursing and Rehab Center.

Mr. Fortner was born on July 3, 1931 in Grayson County, Virginia to Eddie Clyde and Sarah Elizabeth Frazier Fortner. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son Danny Fortner; a great-grandchild Skylar; his siblings Hazel Miller, Bertha Johnson, Rachel Reynolds, Ida Mae Harrison, Gilbert Fortner, Everett  Fortner and Othar Fortner.

He is survived by his wife Marie Robinson Fortner of Galax, Virginia; daughter and son-in-law Lisa and Wade Brown of Galax, Virginia; son and daughter-in-law Lee and Connie Fortner of Sparta, North Carolina; grandchildren Stephanie Shaffer, Thomas Shaffer, Michael Shaffer, Shira Fortner; great-grandchildren Giovanni "JJ" Lopez, Raygen Joseph, Jesse Smith, Noah Smith, Trenton Shaffer, Mason Smith, Katie Smith, Trinity Shaffer, Jackson Shaffer and Jasper Shaffer; several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held Friday, November 30, 2018 at 2:30 PM in the McKenzie Cemetery with the Rev. Junior Bullion officiating. The family will receive friends Friday from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. Military Rites will be conducted by the Grayson VFW Post 7726.
