Wayne Ellis Griffin age 68 of Fries, Virginia passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at his home.

Wayne was born on November 15, 1947 in Galax, Virginia to Ellis Lester and Bernice Hill Griffin. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Dorothy Vaughan.

Wayne was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to fish and hunt; but most importantly he was a great Christian man.

He is survived by his wife Shirley Bond Griffin of Fries, Virginia; children and spouses Holly Griffin of Laurel; Wayne Griffin, Jr.; Leslie Griffin both of Idaho; Melany and Jeff Shupe of Fries, Virginia; Melinda and Ron Hall of Clemmons, North Carolina; sister and brother-in-law Diann and Bobby Lane of Woodlawn, Virginia; brother and sister-in-law Russell and Laura Griffin of Woodlawn, Virginia; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, August 18, 2016 at 4:00 PM in the Hillsville Pentecostal Holiness Church with Pastor Jeff Pickett officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery at Fries, Virginia. The family will receive friends Thursday from 3:00 PM until time for the funeral service at the Hillsville Pentecostal Holiness Church. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Hillsville Pentecostal Holiness Church, 203 Virginia Street, Hillsville, Virginia 24343.
