Wanda Edwards Ayers, age 72, of Galax Virginia, entered into eternal rest on March 30, 2026, at Hillsville Health & Rehabilitation. She was born October 19, 1953, in Carroll County, Virginia, to the late Carl Eugene Edwards and Ida Bell Edwards.
Wanda was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose life was defined by her compassion, strength, and unwavering love for her family. She found her greatest purpose in her children and grandchildren, and her presence brought comfort, warmth, and laughter to those around her. She had a special place in her heart for animals, especially her beloved companions, Annabelle and Maggie.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Glenna Gullion, as well as her cherished companions, Annabelle and Maggie.
She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Donnie Johnson of Fries, Virginia; her brother-in-law, George Gullion; her sons, Travis Ayers of Appomattox, Virginia, Carl Ayers and wife Kimberly of Wytheville, Virginia, and Chad Ayers and his companion, Lily, of Galax, Virginia. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Shatlyn Treadway and husband Braxton of Wake Forest, North Carolina, and Gavin Ayers of Appomattox, Virginia; and her great-grandson, Oliver "Ollie• Treadway. Wanda also leaves behind many dear friends and an extended family at Hillsville Health & Rehabilitation, where she was deeply loved.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, April 3, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Vaughn-Guynn Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to your local animal shelter or to Best Friends Animal Society, in honor of Wanda's love for animals.
Wanda will be remembered for her kind heart, her strength, and the deep love she gave so freely. Her memory will live on in all who knew and loved her.
