Walter Scott Price III, 78, of Hillsville, Virginia, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2026,
Born on December 12, 1947, in Canton, North Carolina, Scott was the son of the late Walter Scott Price II and Mildred Louise Everhart Price. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara Anne Fowler Price, with whom he shared a lifetime of love, devotion, and cherished memories.
Scott graduated from Canton High School in 1966 and earned his degree from Mars Hill College in 1970. During his high school and college years he enjoyed playing in a band and was active in Boy Scouts as a young man. He carried a deep commitment to helping others and serving his community throughout his life.
Upon graduation from college, Scott began his lifetime career as a Safety Engineer for Duke Energy in Charlotte, NC. He and Barbara resided in their home in Davidson, NC for 53 years before moving to Commonwealth Senior Living in Hillsville, VA in 2024.
A faithful member of Williamson's Chapel United Methodist Church in Mooresville, North Carolina, Scott served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. He found great joy in sharing his faith and encouraging those around him.
Scott had a compassionate heart and was passionate about helping others. Through his generous support of Acres of Hope, he helped provide educational opportunities for two children in Uganda, making a meaningful difference in their lives.
Scott embraced life with a spirit of adventure and a love of travel. He and Barbara spent many wonderful years exploring the United States in their motor coach and on their motorcycle, creating treasured memories together. He will be remembered for his warm smile, generous heart, and sincere interest in the lives of others. He also had a lifelong love for animals, especially his cherished dogs and cats. While living in Davidson, he enjoyed daily walks through his neighborhood, often pausing to visit with neighbors and offer a friendly greeting to their dogs.
Scott is survived by his sister-in-law, Marian "Mimi" Banks (David); nieces, Kimberly Spencer (Jay) and Kelly Bailey (Chris); and great nieces, Madison Spencer, Chloe Bailey and Lexi Bailey.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:30 pm on Friday, June 19, 2026, at Williamson's Chapel United Methodist Church. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and gratitude as they honor a man whose life reflected faith, kindness, generosity and love.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Acres of Hope or to a local animal welfare organization of the donor's choice.
