Walter Daniel Martin age 81 of Galax, Va. passed away Sunday, March 30, 2008 at his home. Mr. Martin was born on February 2, 1927 in Carroll County, Va. to Charlie & Susie Hanks Martin. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Clara Martin. He is survived by his daughters & sons-in-law Judy K. & Larry Chappell of Galax, Va.; Nancy Shrewsburry & Allen Royal of Woodlawn, Va.; son & daughter-in-law Clifford Daniel Martin & Barbara Alley of Galax, Va.; sister Winnie Ayers of Pulaski, Va.; brother Thomas Slate of Hillsville, Va.; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces & nephews. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at 2:00 pm in Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Pastor D.G. Fox officiating. Burial will follow in Monta Vista Cemetery with Military Rites by Hillsville VFW Post 1115. The family will receive friends Wednesday from twelve until two at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
