Walter H. Johnson age 73 of Fries, Va. passed away Monday, December 29, 2008 at his home. Mr. Johnson was born on June 16,1935 in Carroll County, Va. to Roy & Leota Byrd Johnson. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Winfred Johnson. He is survived by his wife Doris Taylor Johnson of Fries, Va,; daughters & sons-in-law Winona & Doug Miller of Galax, Va.; Wynn & Jeff Combs of Fries, Va.; sons & daughters-in-law Warren & Ruth Johnson of Galax, Va.; Wayne & Annalee Johnson of Roanoke, Va.; Wade & Barbara Johnson of Fries, Va.; sister Mable Duncan of Galax, Va.; brother Bobby E. Johnson of Fries, Va.; sixteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces & nephews. The funeral service will be held Thursday, January 1, 2009 at 2:00 pm in Mt. Hope United Methodist Church with Rev. Ken Blevins & Rev. Larry Linkous officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from six until eight at Mt. Hope United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to either Mt.
