Walter Ray Hawkins, age 68, passed away on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at the Valley Healthcare Center in Chilhowie, VA.

Walter was born on April 5, 1957, in Galax, VA. He was the son of the late Walter J. Hawkins & Dora Clyburn Hawkins. He is also preceded in death by two brothers David and Randy Hawkins. Ray was raised and lived most of his life in Galax, VA. He was a unique and special person and had a passion for music.

He is survived by his brother James Larry Hawkins; sister-in-law Sandra Hawkins; uncle Jerry Clyburn; nephews Jessee Hawkins, Jason Hawkins, and Daniel Hawkins; niece Amber Hawkins; and many other loving family and friends.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 1:00PM, Monday, December 15, 2025 at Monte Vista Memory Gardens in Galax with Pastor Billy Poff officiating. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.
