Virginia Ruth Combs Redd, age 92 of Galax, VA passed away Sunday, June 26, 2016 at the Waddell Nursing and Rehab. Center, Galax, VA.
Mrs. Redd was born January 21, 1924 in West Virginia to Clyde and Pearl Sexton Combs. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Otie Redd and son, Darrell Eugene Johnson.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Arville & Carmen Johnson, West Liberty, KY, Rev. D.R. & Judy Johnson, Galax, VA; daughter, Pat Wilson, Galax, VA; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren and several nieces & nephews, also, survive.
the funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel, Galax, VA with burial to follow in the Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, June 27, 2016 at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The body will lie in state for one hour preceding the funeral service. Officiating ministers will be the Rev. James Smith and the Rev. D.R. Johnson.
