Virginia Phipps Lyons, 58, of Galax, Virginia, passed away Friday, November 7, 2014 at the Kindred Specialty Hospital, Greensboro, North Carolina. Virginia was born September 16, 1956 to the late Glade Phipps and Pauline Spears Phipps.

She is survived by her daughter Denise Lyons of Laurel Fork, Virginia; two step daughters : Melissa Burleson of Laurel Fork, Virginia; Sheila Quesenberry and husband Terry also of Laurel Fork, Virginia; step son Scott Lyons of Welch, West Virginia; one sister Paula Leon of Asheboro, North Carolina; three brothers and sisters-in-law: Larry Phipps and Polly of Galax, Virginia; Wendell Phipps and Lisa of Mount Airy, North Carolina; Richard Phipps and Pamela of Conway, South Carolina; three step grandchildren, one step great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at 2:00 PM in the Crooked Creek Church with Dr. Ronny Harrison and Pastor Scott Bullins officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 until 8:00 PM at the church.
