Virginia Moore Dalton age 88 of Galax, Virginia passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at Waddell Nursing Home.
Mrs. Moore was born on April 13, 1921 in Cripple Creek, Virginia to Claude & Clyde Jordon Moore.
She attended elementary school in Cripple Creek and graduated from High School in Speedwell, Virginia.
Virginia married Guy J. Dalton of Fries, Va.. Guy retired from Galax Weaving (Burlinton Mills) where he worked for 32 years. They raised their family in Galax, Va..
She enjoyed reading, word puzzles and treasured the special occasions and celebrations with family and friends. Most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was an active member of the East Galax Baptist Church. Her courage, humor, faith and endless positive spirit inspired many.
Her husband, Guy passed away December 28, 1981 and daughter Regina passed away on March 11, 2007. She is survived by her son & daughter-in-law J.C. & Emma Dalton of Atlanta, Ga; grandsons David Dalton of Columbia, S.C.; Scott Dalton of Charleston, S.C.; Chris Dalton & Yerrick Stoneman both of Galax, Va.; Dennis Landry of Christiansburg, Va.; James Landry of Stella, N.C.; ten -great-grandchildren; sister Lois Johnson of Cripple Creek, Va.; brother & sister-in-law Wayne & Margaret Moore of Flat Ridge; several nieces & nephews.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, March 27, 2010 at 2:00 pm in Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with her nephew Rev. David Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Monta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:30 until 8:30 at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. The family will be gathering at the home of Chris Dalton, 1892 Fishers Gap Road in Galax, Va. where they will welcome friends to call at anytime.
