Viola Tolliver Smith Easter age 96, of Sparta, North Carolina passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at the Grayson Nursing Home and Rehab Center in Independence, Virginia.
Mrs. Easter was born on January 1,1917 in Pulaski County to the late Charlie and Grace Tolliver.
Viola loved her Lord and church. She was an active member and served as the clerk of Crab Creek Church and cemetery for 25 years. She joined the Crab Creek Primitive Baptist Church the first Saturday of September 1947 and was baptized the fourth Sunday of September 1947 by Elder Ed Douglas and Elder C.B. Kilby.
She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Smith Jaslowski of Pompano Beach, Florida; a brother Garland "A" Tolliver and wife Helen of Pulaski, and a sister, Hatie Roan of Christiansburg, Va.. She is also survived by a step son and wife Royce Reuben and Martha Easter of Galax, Va.. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Kyle Smith and second husband Reuben Easter. Also preceding Viola in death were brothers Jesse, Claude, Paul, Otho Lee, Jimmy and Garnett "B"
The funeral service will be held Thursday, January 3, 2013 at 2:00 PM in the Crab Creek Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Ronald Bowman and Elder Bobby Absher officiating. Burial will follow in the Crab Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 12:30 PM until time for the funeral service at the church.
