Verna Grace Dickens age 92 of Galax, Va. passed away Sunday, July 27, 2008 at her home. She was born on October 10, 1915 in Carroll County, Va. to James Anderson & Rosa Frances Hanks Dickens. She is survived by her sister Pauline Porter of Galax, Va.; brothers Walter Dickens of Monroe, N.C.; Cecil Dickens of Galax, Va.; several nieces & nephews. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at 11:00 am in Oakland United Methodist Church with Rev. John Ousley officating. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. The body will lie-in-state one hour before the funeral service. In lieu of flowers the family request donatins be made to Twin County Hospice, P.O. Box 106 Galax, Va. 24333. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
