Verna Mae Chesser age 80 of Galax, Virginia passed away Monday, April 14, 2014 in the North Carolina Baptist Hospital.

Mrs. Chesser was born on February 2, 1934 in Surry County, North Carolina to Thomas J. and Vera D. Murphy Brannock. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband James Chesser and sister Clara Jean Anders.

She is survived by two step-children Terry Chesser and Pam Chesser both of Pensacola, Florida; niece and husband Linda and Rick Burcham of Galax, Virginia; nephews and spouse Lonnie and Dawn Anders of Galax, Virginia; C.J. Sparks of Charlotte, North Carolina; several great nieces and nephews; several great-great nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 3:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with the Rev. Bob Adams officiating. Burial will follow in the Saddle Mountain Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 2:00 PM until time for the funeral service at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
