Verl Bobbitt Brown, Sr. age 87of Galax, Virginia passed away Monday, September 30, 2024 at his home.

Mr. Brown was born in Grayson County, Virginia on September 17, 1937 to James Levi and Lettie McMillan Brown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother Tenny Brown; his wife Mary Joann Cox Brown and a grandson Phillip Isaac Brown..

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Vera and Doug Brown of Glade Valley, North Carolina; sons and daughters-in-law Verl and Jewel Brown of Galax, Virginia; James and Evelyn Brown of Sparta, North Carolina;  sister and brother-in-law Ann and Jackie Reeves of  Galax, Virginia;  brother Raymond Brown of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; sisters-in-law Carolyn Brown of Washington, DC; Viola Brown of Redding, Pennsylvania; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; special friend Winfred Brown.

The funeral service will be held Saturday at 2:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Bishop Barry Early and Evangelist Gloria Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in the Monta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:30 PM until time for the funeral service at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
