Vena Edwards Rhudy's Obituary
Vena Hackler Edwards Rhudy, age 94, of Galax, VA died at her home, Friday, June 10, 2011.
Mrs. Rhudy was born in Grayson County, VA to John Wyley and Laura Eunice McGrady Hackler, Feb. 18, 1917.
She is survived by one daughter & son-in-law, Joyce Edwards Wright and Thomas "Pete" Wright, Galax, VA; son and daughter in-law, Roy Roger and Shelvy J. Edwards, Galax, VA; brother and sister-in-law, Dean and Blanche Hackler, Galax, VA; grandchildren, Tommy & DeeDee Wright, Karen and Phillip Webb, Myra and Bob Dendy, Rhonda and Buddy Hill; nine great- grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren; several nieces & nephews. Mrs. Rhudy was preceded in death by her husbands, Edgar E. Edwards and Hale A. Rhudy.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 14, 2011, 2:00 PM at the Mt. Vale United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held at the church from 12:00 noon until time for service Tuesday. Burial will follow in the Monta Vista Cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev. Jeff Callahan.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Vale United Methodist Church or the Comers Rock Cemetery, c/o Mark Sutherland, 230 Archery Lane, Elk Creek, VA 24326.
