Velma Lucille Anderson age 84 of Galax, Va. passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2007 in Grayson Nursing & Rehab Center. Mrs. Anderson was born on January 4, 1923 in Carroll County, Va. to the late Wiley & Dixie Blevins Hawkins. She is survived by her husband Lamon Anderson of Galax, Va.; sons & daughters-in-law Eugene & Brenda Sawyers of Woodlawn, Va.; Arless & Mary Sawyers of Galax, Va.; step-daughters Christine and her husband Eddie Crowder of Galax, Va.; Louise Beltran of Raymond, Washington; brother & sister-in-law Billy & Ann Hawkins of Galax, Va.; sister-in-law Odessa Hawkins of Independence, Va.; brother-in-law Arthur Blevins of Independence, Va.; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren. The funeral service will be held Saturday, September 15, 2007 at 11:00 AM in Beech Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Carico and Rev. Charles Bunn officiating. Burial will follow in McKenzie Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from seven until nine at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
