Troy Holderfield age 80 of Independence, Virginia passed away Thursday, February 19, 2009 at Grayson Nursing & Rehab Center. Mr. Holderfield was born on April 19, 1928 in Carroll County, Va. to Frank & Bertie Smith Holderfield. He is survived by his wife Edith Taylor Holderfield of Independence, Virginia; sons & daughter-in-law Troy Dale & Anita Holderfield of Dunwoody, Georgia; Marshall Holderfield of Mouth of Wilson, Virginia; sister Grace Kenny; sister-in-law Mallie Holderfield of Galax, Va.; half-brothers Columbus Holderfield and Robert Holderfield both of Georgia; two grandsons; several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held Sunday, February 22, 2009 at 2:00 pm in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. David Osborne officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from seven until nine at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
