Tommy Gray South age 72 of Fries, Virginia passed away Friday March 18, 2022 in the Sentra Norfolk Heart Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia.

Tommy was born in Galax, Virginia on April 21, 1949 to Marshall and Imogene Burton South. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters Betty South; Peggy Lewis and Patricia Hodge.

He proudly served his country in the US Army.

He is survived by his wife Mary Vaughan South of Fries, Virginia; daughter and son-in-law Cynthia and Raymond Paduani of Virginia Beach, Virginia; son Anthony Gray South of Fries, Virginia; sister Patsy Diamond of Galax, Virginia; brothers-in-law Earnest Hodge of Galax, Virginia; Billy Vaughan of Fries, Virginia; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Saturday at 2:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with the Rev. Larry Murphy and Pastor Adam Frye officiating. Burial will follow in the Liberty Hill Cemetery with Military Rites by the Grayson VFW Post 7726. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 PM until time for the funeral service at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. The family will also receive friends at 29 Quarry Road, Fries, Virginia on Thursday and Friday from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM.
