Tommie Lee Mayes' Obituary
Tommie Lee Mayes age 65 of Galax, Virginia passed away Thursday, March 7, 2013 in the North Carolina Baptist Hospital.
Tommie was born in Grayson County, Virginia on April 23, 1947 to Christopher Columbus and Ruby Burgess Mayes.
Tommie proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his wife Jo Ann Mayes of Galax, Virginia; sons and daughters-in-law Dickie and April Mayes of Woodlawn, Virginia; Darrick and Kristen Mayes of Galax, Virginia; grandchildren Taylor Lewis; Brittany Mayes and Amber McMillian; sister and brother-in-law Shelby and Gayle Phipps of Lynchburg, Virginia; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Sunday, March 10, 2013 at 1:30 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Rev. Ted Bartlett officiating. Burial will follow in the Monta Vista Mausoleum. Military Rites will be conducted by the Grayson VFW Post 7726. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from six until eight at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
