Thurman M. Leonard age 88 of Galax, Virginia passed away Thursday, November 17, 2011 in the Twin County Regional Hospital.
Mr. Leonard was born in Grayson County, Virginia on November 20, 1922 to John Perry and Mary Elizabeth Roberts Leonard.
He is survived by his wife Pauline Leonard of Galax, Virginia; children and spouses Sharon Burcham of Big Sandy, Montana; Gale Leonard, Nancy Hutchens, Edward and Lesa Leonard, Daniel Leonard, Randall Leonard all of Galax, Virginia; Robert and Yvette Leonard of Hillsville, Virginia; Allen and Margarita Leonard of Silver City, New Mexico; Jeffrey and Pamela Leonard of Sugar Grove, Virginia; sisters Edith Sutherland of Galax, Virginia; Beulah Morgan of Kitty Hawk, North Carolina; eighteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 2:00 PM in the Monta Vista Cemetery with Pastor Craig Embree officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Friday evening from seven until nine at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
