Thomas "Dan" Martin of Galax, VA , 59, answered God's call on December 7, 2013.

He was born October 22, 1954, to the late Thomas W. Martin and Vada Billings Martin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Shirley Lane.

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Lepresca Torres and Luis Torres, Jr, of Yokosuka, Kanagawa, Japan; son, Shane Griffeth of Elk Creek, VA; grandson, Xavier Torres; two sisters, Betty Noel of Galax, VA, and Mary Hall of Hillsville, VA; brother Dennis Martin of Woodlawn, VA; nieces and nephews; and brothers-in-law;

A gathering to celebrate the life of our father, brother, and friend will be held on Sunday, December 15th at 1pm at Betty Noel's home. This is an open invitation to all who wish to pay their respects and remember our beloved.

Dad, your passing has left a gaping hole in our hearts. You were a very special man who touched many lives. To you we make a promise not to mourn your death but instead rejoice your life and savor the joyful memories. You will be missed by many and forgotten by none.
