Theresa Ann Sexton Mawyer age 69 of Galax, Virginia passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2026 in the Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Theresa was born in Portsmouth, Virginia  on July 21, 1956 to Charles Vivian Sexton, Jr.  and Helena Ruth Lineberry Sexton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Christopher Mark Sexton.

She is survived by her husband Barry Thomas Mawyer; son and daughter-in-law Bradley and Mary Mawyer all of Galax, Virginia; sisters and brothers-in-law Vivian and Don Crewes of Moultrie, Georgia; Kimberly and Tim Coble of Hillsville, Virginia; brothers and sisters-in-law William and Doris Sexton of Wytheville, Virginia; David and Pam Sexton of Jacksonville, Florida; several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held Friday at 1:00 PM in the Coal Creek Cemetery with Pastor Tim Christman officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully request donations be made to either the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75231 or the American Lung Association,  55 West Wacker Drive, Suite 1150, Chicago, Illinois 60601.
