Thelma Sutherland Carico, 94,of King North Carolina and formerly of Galax, Virginia passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Wake Forest University Medical Center, Winston-Salem, NC. She was born October 29, 1918 in Galax, Virginia to the late Muncey Sutherland and Ella Hawkins Sutherland. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Glenn Carico and son Billy Carico.

She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law Marie and Guy Russell, Jr. of Galax, Virginia; Brenda and Banner Haynes, King, North Carolina; Charlotte and Guy Cloud also of King, North Carolina; four sons and daughters-in-law: Bud R. and Gaynelle Carico of Charlotte, North Carolina, John A. Carico of King, North Carolina; Jack F. and Judy Carico of Tobaccoville, North Carolina; Allen D. and Judy Carico of King, North Carolina. Sixteen grandchildren, thirty-one great grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 11:30 AM in the Locust Grove Church of Christ with Craig Embree, Ralph Sproles, Don Wallace officiating. Interment will follow Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 2:30 PM in the Poplar Springs Church of Christ Cemetery in King. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 AM until time for the funeral service at the church.
