Obituary

Tex Junior Brown, 77, of Hillsville passed away Tuesday May 22, 2018 in Forsyth Medical Center, Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Tex was born January 9, 1941 in Woodlawn, Virginia to the late Elmer Gleaves Brown and Golda Katherine Lundy Brown.

Tex served with the Army Reserves during the Vietnam era. He was employed with Burlington Mills as a supervisor for twenty-eight years and also worked in a supervisory role during the construction of Interstate 77. He was proud to have written and published "Hillbilly Morgan" and enjoyed books, stories and movies concerning the Wild West.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Juanita Hale Brown of the home; children and spouses Begina Ruth Lawson and Wayne of Low Gap, North Carolina; Terena Lynn Crawford and Mitch of Galax; Tex Richard Brown and Christine also of Galax; brother and sister-in-law: Terry Lee Brown and Mary of Galax; sisters and brother-in-law: Betty Gale Brown and Sheila Flippen and Hersey all of Low Gap, North Carolina; brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Conley and Reba Hale also of Galax.   Also surviving are seven (7) grandchildren and spouses Lynnsey Jackson and Caleb; Brittan Gwyn; Emily Sapp and Kenny; Isaac Tex Brown; Abigail Grace Brown; Carter Lee Brown; Micah Paul Brown; four (4) great grandchildren: Peyton Leigh Cameron, Kenneth Levi Sapp, Caleb Knox Jackson and Noah Sanford Jackson

The funeral service will be held Friday, May 25, 2018 at 4:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Brother Max Combs and Brother Terry Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the Mount Olivet Cemetery at Cranberry (Midway Heights).  The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until time for the service at the funeral home.
