Teddie Verlon Fortner's Obituary
Teddie Verlon Fortner, 67, of Martha's Knob Rd., Galax, VA passed away at his home Friday October 17.
Verlon was born August 13, 1941 in Low Gap, North Carolina to John Harvey & Dora Dickens Fortner.
He is survived by his wife: Lynda Joyce Fortner of the home, two daughters: Sherry Louise Higgins and husband Eric of Pipers Gap Community, Galax, VA: Crystal Leigh Fortner and Thomas Simpkins of Dugspur, VA: 1 sister: Lena Mae Ramey of Galax;
two grandchildren: Keena Higgins and Adams Higgins of Pipers Gap; a step grandchild: Christin Sayers of Galax. Two Step great grandchildren, one niece and several nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6 until 8 o'clock PM at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Monday, October 20, at 2:00 PM in the Bible Baptist Church, Oldtown with the Rev. Ted Bartlett officiating. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Goodson Cemetery.
