Stevie Elton Nester passed away at 8:00pm on Friday, February 11, 2022, at his residence.

He was born on October 23, 1945, in Austinville, VA to Alvie and Hopie (Alley) Nester. He married Linda Hawks on July 31, 1971, in Galax, Virginia.

Surviving is his wife; three children, Stephanie (Michael) McMillian of Woodlawn, VA, Kenneth (Melissa) Nester of Austinville VA, and Durand (Cannette) Nester of Independence, VA; three grandchildren, Alicia Savage, Bradley Nester, and Bella Nester; and one great-grand child, Lincoln Savage; four brothers, Arnie Nester, Olen G. Nester, Elmo Nester Arlee (Prudence) Nester and one sister, Ida Eastridge.

Stevie was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings Arvin Nester, Betty (Nester) Easter, Virgle Nester.

Stevie started Nester Plumbing and Electric, which he ran with his family for years. He loved watching the kids play in the yard, boating, Westerns, and his cat, Jerry. He enjoyed spending time with his family and looked forward to Sunday dinners with them, he loved his grand babies so much.

A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 16, 2022. Service will be held at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home, in Galax, VA. on Thursday, February 17, 2022, at 2pm. Burial will follow at Pickett Cemetery in rural Austinville, conducted by Russell Payne and Ronnie Bowman.

Flowers are appreciated, but in lieu of that donations can be made to Laurel Rescue Squad or Pickett Cemetery.
