Steve Waddell known as Flash age 59 of Galax, Virginia passed away Friday, November 23, 2018 in the Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, North Carolina.

He was born in Tennessee on November 6, 1959 to Paul Scott and Edith Richards Waddell.

True friends who will miss him greatly are Mackie Bedsaul, Erick Fender, Randall Hawks and Sharon Hawks, Jim and Tammie Leath, Marcus Ogle, Amy Parsons, Nick Sage, Mark Stanley and thousands of little buddies; his mom Edith Richards Waddell of Bluff City, Tennessee; three sisters Katherine, Eva and Mary; two brothers Jerry and Kenneth; several nieces and nephews.

He worked at United Intermountain Telephone/ Century Link for many years and had just recently retired.

Steve, "Flash" to all his friends loved to hunt, shoot Skeet and shoot pistols. He won several awards in the Virginia Skeet Shooting competitions. Steve was a GREAT friend to everyone and was a help to all in a time of need. He was very benevolent to people whom he loved and trusted. He loved to have a cup of coffee with friends and tell stories of the past and laugh and enjoy life. He will be missed by all of his friends and "little buddies." Steve loved Jesus as his Lord and Savior and knew this "BIG BUDDY" was always by his side and stuck with him closer than a brother.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, November 25, 2018 at 2:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with the  Rev. Sam Holder officiating. Burial will follow in the Felts Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations to defray the cost of funeral expenses may be made to the Estate of Steve Waddell, P.O. Box 411, Galax, Virginia 24333.
