Sterling Leslie Harvey, age 62 of Galax, passed away in his home surrounded by family on July 23rd, 2015. He was born on September 3rd, 1952 in Bluefield, West Virginia to Wilson D. Harvey and Mary E. Harvey of Mullins, West Virginia.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra G. Harvey; son Joshua S. Harvey and wife Salena, grandchildren Bryson, Bria, Braeden, Braxton of Daleville, Virginia; son Travis L. Harvey and wife Roopa of Atlanta, Georgia; his brother Lawrence Harvey and wife Jeanne of Newport Richey, Florida; brothers-in-law George Gow and wife Nancy; Melvin Gow and wife Eileen, and a sister-in-law, Mary Jane Gow, and several nieces and nephews.

Les worked at Carroll County Public schools for 30 years from 1975 to 2005 as a teacher, principal, and in Central Office with the alternative Education Program which he found most rewarding. Later he worked in North Carolina and at the Galax High School.
He was a member of the Mount Olivet United Methodist Church and for a number of years at the Gladeville Ruritan Club.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 25th at Mount Olivet Methodist Church at 7:00 PM with Pastor John Grimm officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until time for the service at the church.
