Sidney Glenn "Bill" Williams of Galax, Va. went to his rest on Sunday, March 23, 2008. He was born January l, 1923 in Carroll County, Va. to Roby and Belzora Burcham Williams. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Donald; his wife Alma, a son Myron and a daughter, Glenna Richardson. He is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Regina & Timothy Norman, Sandra Sexton all of Roanoke, Va.; Connie Rippey of Galax,Va.; Tommy Richardson of Salem, Va.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces & nephews. He is also survived by four sisters and two brothers; Daisy Moore of Roanoke, Va.; Ruth Turner, Edna Hanks, Perry Williams all of Woodlawn, Va.; Faye Welsh and Jimmy Williams of Galax, Va.; one uncle Jesse Burcham. A member of the "greatest generation", Glenn was a veteran of the Army Air Corps, Pacific Theatre of Operation. He was a loyal American, a faithful blood donor, and an active member of VFW Post 1115 in Hillsville, Va.. Glenn completed all his duties with the utmost diligence and pride in that duty. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm at Mt.Lebanon Cemetery on Friday, March 28, 2008 with VFW Post Chaplain Norman Goad officiating followed by full military honors. Afterwards family and friends will celebrate his life at the VFW Post 1115 Building in Hillsville, Va.. In lieu of flowers Glenn requested donatins be made to Mt. Lebanon Cemetery Fund; VFW Post 1115 or the Amercian Cancer Society.
