Shirley Mae Ward age 71 of Galax, Virginia passed away Thursday, March 17, 2016 at her home.
Shirley was born on July 17, 1944 in Galax, Virginia to Charles R. and Pearl Dalton Burchette.
She is survived by her husband J.E. Ward of Galax, Virginia; daughters and sons-in-law Bonnie and Franklin Walker; Sena Ward; Edna and Todd Bond all of Galax, Virginia; Tammy and Donald Bare of Sparta, North Carolina; five grandchildren Josh Griffin; Johnny Taylor; Jacob Stevens; Tonya Caudill and Cindy Bare; five great-grandchildren; brother Charles Burchette, Jr. of Mt. Airy, North Carolina; several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held Monday, March 21, 2016 at 2:30 PM in the Pilgrims Rest Cemetery with Pastor Raymond Dale Ward and Pastor J.R. Bowers officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 1:00 PM until 2:00 at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
