Shirley Horton Leath, age 80, passed away Monday, October 14, 2019 at her home. Mrs. Leath was born February 21, 1939 in Fancy Gap, Virginia to the late Curtis and Geneva Horton. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son Travis Leath, sisters Della Murphy, Mary Murphy, Peggy Ayers; brother Franklin Horton and granddaughters Amanda Leath and Chrystal Burcham.

Mrs. Leath is survived by her husband Oatie  Edwin Leath of the home, daughters and sons-in-law: Teresa and Ronald Burcham of Elkin, North Carolina, Geneva and Tim Weatherman of Galax, Virginia; sons and daughter-in-law: Tim and Diann Leath of Woodlawn, Virginia, Sam Leath of Galax, Virginia; sister and brother-in-law: Emmalene and Kyle Kegley of Galax, Virginia. Thirteen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews also survive.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, October 17, 2019 at 2:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Rev. Terri Gregory officiating. Interment will follow in Monta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 16, 2019 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
