Shirley May Jennings, age 84, of Lebanon, Tennessee passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2022. Shirley, is the oldest of two children, born on June 5, 1937, in Galax, Virginia to George and Bertha (Patton) Carico.

She graduated on June 7, 1954, from Woodlawn High School in Woodlawn, Virginia. Shirley married Randolph Jennings of Galax, Virginia on December 23, 1953. Shirley and Randolph were married for 59 years until Randolph passed away. Shirley worked as a secretary, a lithography assistant, a mother and homemaker, and a bookkeeper. She loved gardening, sewing, crocheting, puzzles, word games, playing the piano, and singing.  Most of all she loved all of the animals God put on this earth, including spiders which she would not kill but carry outside in a tissue.

Shirley and her husband lived in Galax, Virginia at the beginning of their marriage, moved briefly to Raleigh, North Carolina, then returned to Galax until they moved in 1963 to Maryland, where they lived in several suburbs of Washington, DC, until 1975. They relocated to Tanner, West Virginia, where they lived until the death of Shirley's husband in March 2013. In April 2013 Shirley moved to Hermitage, Tennessee where she lived with Betty Cripps, mother-in-law, until April 2015 when she moved to Mt. Juliet, Tennessee to live with her daughter, Teresa and her son-in-law, Bill until April 2021 when she moved to Wilson Manor, Assisted Living, in Lebanon, TN.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, George McDonald and Bertha (Patton) Carico; her husband, Randolph Jennings; her brother, William Harvey Carico; William Dillon and Lura Forrest (Bobbitt) Carico who raised her and the cousins she grew up with: William Robert "Bobby" Carico, and Lura Beatrice (Carico) Thomas.

Shirley is survived by her daughter, Patricia Jennings, of Burke, Virginia; Teresa VonStorch, daughter and son-in-law, William (Bill) VonStorch of Mount Juliet, Tennessee; her daughter, her cousins she grew up with: Jean (Carico) Isom and Vanessa (Carico) Carter of Galax, Virginia, and John "Johnny" Carico of Spokane, Washington.

The family will receive friends Friday, April 1, 2022, from 1:00 PM until time for the funeral service at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
