Mrs. Shirley Ann Edmonds Bowers, 66, of Ivanhoe, Virginia passed away Friday, April 12, 2013
In the Wythe County Community Hospital, Wytheville, Virginia. Mrs. Bowers was born October 13, 1946 in Surry County, North Carolina to William Roy Edmonds and Clearsie Hutson Edmonds. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Walter Eugene Bowers; two sons Jamie and Daniel Bowers, sister Ruth Faulkner, brothers Marvin Edmonds and William Henry "Doc" Edmonds.
She is survived by two sons Rex Bowers and wife Rebecca of Ivanhoe, Virginia and Bradley Shane Bowers of Fries, Virginia; two grandchildren Allen Wyte Bowers and Nathaniel Shane Bowers; two sisters Mae Norman and Della Odum and husband Bobby all of Mount Airy, North Carolina; brothers Frank Edmonds and Ray Lee Edmonds both of Mount Airy, North Carolina; sisters-in-law Lettie Mae McGee of Fries, Virginia and Peggy Wright and husband Dale of Rural Retreat, Virginia; also a special caregiver Rebecca Ann Bowers.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at 2:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel. Burial will follow in the River Hill Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until service time at the funeral home.
