Shirley JoAnn McCollum Cox age 78 of Galax, Virginia passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at her home.
Mrs. Cox was born on June 2, 1935 in Asheville, North Carolina to Guy and Ethel Josephine Davis McCollum. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Isaac Cox.
She is survived by her daughters Debra Lynn Cox of Virginia Beach, Virginia; Teresa Ann Dillard of Galax, Virginia; Sharon Yvonne Hudson of Wytheville, Virginia; Lisa Michelle Funk of Petersburg, Virginia; grandchildren Chris Bunn, Stephanie Bunn, Brent Dillard, David Dillard, Ashley Ayers, Cameron Hudson, Erik Funk and Kimberly Lundy, eight great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law James and Dana Gentry of Marshall, North Carolina; several nieces and nephews.
A private burial was held in the River Hill Christian Church Cemetery Thursday at 12:00 noon.
