Shirley Mae Carico age 87 of Hillsville, Virginia passed away Saturday in the Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Carico was born on May 29, 1937 in Wythe County, Virginia to James and Abby Davis Blevins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Elbert Friel Carico; granddaughter Sonya Mitchell; three sisters and four brothers.

She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law Debra and David Crouse of Low Gap, North Carolina; Renee Underwood of Galax, Virginia; sons and daughter-in-law Kenneth Carico of Low Gap, North Carolina; Doug and Dawn Carico of Hillsville, Virginia; step-daughter and husband Shirley Ann and Brady Bryant of Galax, Virginia; brother and sister-in-law Dennis and Joyce Blevins of Fries, Virginia; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Friday at 1:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Pastor Ashley Horton and the Rev. Ray Bolen officiating. Burial will follow in the Monta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from six until eight at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
