Shirley Vay Burris age 67 of Galax, Virginia passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2018 in the Forsyth Medical Center.
Shirley was born in Grayson County, Virginia on September 11,1950 to Raymond Commodor and Claire Porter Leonard. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Jay Burris.
She is survived by a daughter and son –in-law Melissa and Andre Cottrell of Galax, Virginia; two grandchildren Amber Burnette and Shyanne Thompson; three great-grandchildren Tripp Thompson, Elena Thompson and Jaxson Thompson; sister and brother-in-law Kay and Dan Manning of Woodlawn, Virginia; half-sister and husband Joann and Jimmy Brewer of Galax, Virginia; half-brother and wife Joe and Opal Vaughan of Fries, Virginia; special nephew Ray Melton; brother-in-law Billy W. Testerman of Galax, Virginia; several nieces and nephews; host of friends.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 2:00 PM in the McKenzie Cemetery with Pastor Garry Adams officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
