Shelby Jean McLean age 77 of Galax, Virginia passed away Friday, February 12, 2016 at her home.

Mrs. McLean was born in Virginia on March 3, 1938 to Joe and Ella Mae Vaughan Clemons. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband David Melvin Crowder; two sons Dana Melvin Crowder and Tony Ray Crowder; grandson David Melvin Crowder; sisters Roberta Clemons Harris and Jo Ann Clemons; brothers Foster Clemons and Homer Clemons.

She is survived by her husband Robert McLean; daughter and son-in-law Connie and Harrell (Jody) Whittington; step-daughter and husband Tammie and Tracy Smith all of Galax, Virginia; daughter-in-law Carol Crowder; five granddaughters; one step-granddaughter; six great-granddaughters; six great-grandsons; host of other family members, friends and the Old Time Christians.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, February 14, 2016 at 2:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with the Rev. Jeff Pickett and the Rev. Joe Warren officiating. Burial will follow in the Monta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from six until eight at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
